Pemba Island

Pemba Island is Zanzibar's secret sibling - a lush, hilly island that sees a fraction of the tourists but offers arguably better diving, authentic culture, and pristine natural beauty. Known as "Al Kuthera" (the Green Island) for its verdant clove forests, Pemba remains Tanzania's most exclusive island destination.

The diving here is world-renowned. The Pemba Channel drops to depths of over 2,000 meters just offshore, creating dramatic walls, swim-throughs, and pelagic action that rivals the world's best sites. Visibility regularly exceeds 40 meters, and encounters with large marine life including mantas, whale sharks, and hammerheads are possible.
