- Lodges, tented camps or camping, depending on your level. Bed linen and towels are usually included.
- Full board meals
- Breakfast, lunch and dinner, with packed lunches on game drives. Water is included. Alcohol is usually extra.
- Guide and vehicle
- A professional driver-guide with wildlife knowledge and safety training, in a 4x4 with a pop-up roof.
- Park fees
- National park entry, conservation and concession fees are usually included.

What is included in Tanzania safari prices?
Most safari packages include lodging, all meals, park entry fees, a 4x4 with a driver-guide, airport transfers and bottled water. International flights, visa, travel insurance, tips and optional activities are usually extra.
Why are Tanzania safaris expensive?
Tanzania has some of Africa's highest park fees ($83 a day in the Serengeti). The parks are remote and need 4x4 vehicles and trained guides, and there are few places to stay in the prime wildlife areas. Those fees pay for conservation.
Is a Tanzania safari worth the cost?
For most people, yes. You get the Great Migration, the Big Five in the Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti's big cats. If your budget is tight, a shorter trip, camping or the green season brings the price down without losing the wildlife.
How can I reduce Tanzania safari costs?
Travel in low season (April to May), camp instead of staying in lodges, join a group safari, visit fewer parks, or focus on the Southern Circuit, where fees are lower. Our 5-day budget camping safari is a good place to start.
When is the cheapest time for a Tanzania safari?
April to May (the long rains) has the lowest prices, with 20 to 40% discounts. November (the short rains) also has good deals. Peak season is July to October and December to February, when prices are highest.
